In using this pathfinder, you will achieve the capabilities listed below by practising the following skills:

vLearning how to search for and locate a wide variety of multi-format resouces in the library and online
vLearning effective online search techniques and becoming selective in your choice of resources
vDeveloping your understanding of new key words and their meanings and using them to locate information
vPosting comments to share your ideas and ask questions of others in the discussion forum
vResearching information found from a number of sources: visual, aural and written etc
vComparing and contrasting the behaviours, principles and backgrounds of different cultures and races
vDeveloping an understanding of the influence that people’s values and behaviour have on others
vIdentifying and investigating what is means to be ethical and learning how reasoning can affect personal judgement

Literacy


Students develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions to interpret and use language confidently for learning and communicating in and out of school and for participating effectively in society. Students listen to, read, view, speak, write and create oral, print, visual and digital texts, and using and modifying language for different purposes in a range of contexts, through which they become literate.

ICT


Students use ICT effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning areas at school, and in their lives beyond school. Students learn to make the most of the technologies available to them, adapting to new ways of doing things as technologies evolve and limiting the risks to themselves and others in a digital environment.

Ethical Behaviour


Students learn to behave ethically as they identify and investigate the nature of ethical concepts, values, character traits and principles, and understand how reasoning can assist ethical judgment. Students learn to build strong personal and socially oriented ethical outlooks that help them to manage context, conflict and uncertainty, and to develop an awareness of the influence that their values and behaviour have on others.
